Smartphones, laptops, tablet PC’s cameras and a lot more – these are the top gadgets circulating in themarket today. Many people have already realized the benefits of these helpful gadgets and treasurethem like they are precious jewels. That is why even just a small scratch or a tiny little dent on a gadgetmakes its owner freak out. If you are one of those many people who are just plain protective of their stuff, then why don’t you try doing these 7 great craft ideas for protecting your gadget?

1. Leather case

Leather materials are preferred by many gadget owners. This is because leather can give a better protection to the gadget and it looks more sophisticated. You can just get leather pieces or buy some parts. Place your gadget on top of it and draw an outline with 1 inch allowance. Cut 2 of this pattern and sew the two together on the sides and bottom part.

2. Felt case

Felt paper is a cheap material that can be designed and made into a nice, cute gadget protector. Same with leather cases, just make patterns using the felt paper, cut them and stitch together. The good thing about felt paper is that you can style them easily.

3. Old jeans case

Do you have an old pair of jeans that you do not use anymore? There are many things that you canmake with the use of it. One of the many craft things that you can create out of old jeans is a gadget case. You can just cut some part of the jeans according to your gadget’s size and sew them together.

4. Knitted case

A lot of people like the warm, fuzzy feel of knitted crafts. If you know something about knitting, you can just make your customized gadget case with some yarns and needle. You can also just get an old knitted sweater that you do not use anymore, and cut some patterns from it that will serve as your gadget case.

5. Origami case

The paper art from Japan has also influenced gadget accessories and protective cases. In fact, there aresome people who post their step-by-step instruction in making origami cases for different gadgets. You can just search for this pattern on the Internet.

6. Juice box case

Don’t throw away that empty juice box yet. You can use it in making recycled cases for your gadget. All you have to do is clean up the juice box, and cut it according to your gadget’s size. Stick the carton together and add designs.

7. Old notebook case

Are you into foldable cases? Then you can just get that cover of your old notebook and cut your gadget outlines from it. Just secure the case with adhesive materials and customize it if you want.

High quality gadget protective cases are pretty costly. So why go to the market and buy an expensive gadget protector when you can your own gadget case? Just gather your preferred materials, draw patterns, cut out the outlines, stick them together, make finishing touches and voila!

Surely you’ve seen those cute teeny tiny cupcakes that are being sold everywhere, I see them taunting me at coffee shops quite often. Those little suckers sure can be pricey though!

I kept saying we would just make our own, but sadly it got added to that never ending list of things I didn’t have (make) time for…

I have time now…here’s how…

The first bit of awesomeness you will notice is the color! Yes it is a pink appliance! Nothing says yummy sweets like pretty pastels in the kitchen!

This little pretty thing is the Babycakes Cupcake Maker!  Yes, it’s cute…but it’s also very powerful! It can bake 8 snack size cupcakes in about 5 minutes.

It comes with a book of recipes to keep you busy for awhile!  It also can be used with or without cupcake liners because it has a non-stick coating.

For our first run we decided to make Brownie Bites.  This makes it even easier because we were able to use a boxed brownie mix and canned frosting!  Now these take a little bit longer to bake, but still only about 12 minutes.  One box of Brownie mix will make you approximately 16-18 Brownie Bites!  Perfect for a little indulgence without over doing it!

Just follow the directions on the box to mix your batter…

Batter from a box brownie mix.

Then fill each cup with about 2 tablespoons of batter…

Filled cups, we used liners because they are cute!

Then you bake them for approximately 12 minutes…

Bake until set.

We used a prepared icing on our cupcakes.  We decorated the cupcakes using the icing bag and decorating tip that was provided with the cupcake maker.

TaDa!

Cute right? Mmmmmmm!

We had a lot of fun making the cupcakes! It was so super easy and even my little ones were able to participate.  They love icing the cupcakes, but they love eating them even more!

Clean-up was a breeze! Everything wiped off the machine with no effort on my part!  I would totally recommend the Babycakes Cupcake Maker! I’m thinking about getting the Babycakes Donut Maker next!

I wrote this review while participating in a campaign by Mom Central Consulting on behalf of Babycakes and received a product sample and a promotional item to thank me for taking the time to participate.

I love to paint!  Bringing color to the walls of your home as well as you accessories is an easy way to get a new look without spending a fortune.  Sometimes it’s fun to incorporate some designs into the painting.  Once upon a time this would have been something I could pull off on my own since I was an artist.  These days however I couldn’t pull off the simplest of designs without help.  This is where stencils come in handy!

Now, I’m not talking about those hard plastic stencils that are hard to keep in place, no…I’m talking about reusable, re-positionable wall stencils.  They stick to the wall making it super easy to have diy decor in no time that looks like a pro did it!  You can pull off some amazing designs that look like very expensive detailed wall paper.

This is a guest post from ScotchBlue

With the warmth of summer, extra daylight and holiday weekends, there’s no time like the present to spruce up a space. To gear up for painting season, ScotchBlueTM Painter’s Tape and DIY Network star and master of renovation, Amy Matthews, are helping home improvement enthusiasts jump into painting season with tips to get started and a contest to inspire.

“Painting continues to be the most popular DIY project because it makes such a big impact on a small budget,” says Amy Matthews, host of DIY Network’s Sweat Equity and ScotchBlue spokesperson. “A gallon of paint to create a unique design treatment can do wonders for a tired space with just $100 or less, a little planning and some know-how.”

The key to professional-looking results is being prepared with the proper tools and techniques.

Amy’s Top Three Tips to Get Started

  1. Every painter should have the right ScotchBlue Painter’s Tape for the job. 3M has introduced Edge-Lock™ Paint Lock Protector, a new treatment that enhances the premium benefits of ScotchBlue Painter’s Tapes while providing additional insurance to painters that don’t have a lot of experience and need an extra edge.
  2. The perfect painter’s tool kit also includes rollers, paint brushes, trays, a putty knife or 5-in-1 tool, gloves, drop cloths and a tape measure and level for certain design techniques.
  3. Masking properly is a necessity to create crisp paint lines done right the first time! The best way to apply ScotchBlue Painter’s Tape is to pull it off the roll a few feet at a time and lay it onto surface depressions. Press down as you go and avoid stretching the tape to prevent lift or breakage. Then, secure the tape by pressing down the edge with a putty knife, five-in-one-tool or even a credit card.

Now armed with the proper knowledge of how to get a painting project started, try the following design idea or visit ScotchBlue.com for more inspiration.

Back-to-School Tween Room project using ScotchBlue Painter’s Tape

Tweens and teenagers are notorious for wanting to display their own sense of style – and their bedrooms shouldn’t be an exception. Create a fun, personalized headboard by applying ScotchBlue Painter’s Tape to form their initial directly above the bed. Then paint over it with their favorite color, let dry and remove the tape.

It’s not too late to enter the ScotchBlueTM & YOU Renovation Rescue Crew contest, where one lucky grand-prize winner will receive a room makeover valued up to $15,000 and the exclusive opportunity to work with Amy Matthews on an episode of DIY Network’s Sweat Equity. Logon to www.ScotchBlueandYou.com for more details and how to enter.
