Archive for Digital SLR

I get comments all the time about my photography.  It’s something I have done since I was a Teen when I was given my first SLR.  A Minolta!  I was so in love!  Then came the digital camera and it was great, but it didn’t compare to my SLR…until of course…the Digital SLR!

I waited for years before getting my first Digital SLR!  I’m actually glad I waited.  All the updates to the quality and what they can do was well worth the wait!  If you want to shoot professionally it takes more than a high dollar camera!  A talented photographer can shoot a great photo with any camera, including a Polaroid or even a cell phone camera!

I think most people will be just fine with a normal digital camera in the highest mp they can afford.  I have a wonderful point and shoot that takes great photos!  I suggest that if you buy a DSLR that you also have a point and shoot on hand.  You don’t always want to take your DSLR.  An avid photographer always wants a camera with them!  You never know when the perfect shot will appear!

If you want to improve your photo skills, then shoot daily!  Sign up for a 365 project and shoot daily!  You will definitely get the creative juices flowing!

Make sure you shop around!  Prices can vary depending on where you shop.  Get the best deal you can!  ShopWiki has 30,000 stores! For a shopper, this means you can find anything and everything for sale on the web at ShopWiki.co.uk. More products from more stores means better deals and savings for you!

I still love her, my Minolta 400SI 35mm camera that is. I can’t say enough good things about her.  She never failed me. I feel that she will be neglected a lot now since the Nikon D3000digital SLR moved in. I’ll have to be sure to break her out once in awhile for old times sake.  She is still so cool!

Just out of curiosity I looked up some reviews on the Minolta 400SI.  It is still getting awesome reviews! After all of these years people are still loving this camera.  I can’t remember the year I got it, but I know it was soon after graduation, which was back in 1992.  The camera has never needed to be serviced and shoots as great today as it did the day I got it.

Thanks to my awesome parents for buying her for me.

I’ve been addicted to photography since highschool.  Not too long after graduating my mom and dad bought me a Minolta Maxxum 400SI 35 mm.  I love that camera so much.  I have never once had an issue with it and it shoots as great today as it did back then in the early 90′s when it was brand new.  It made me money and I like money.  Then along came Digital SLR’s and I was kicked out of the game.  People wanted instant gratification and I can’t say I blamed them.  Although in my opinion, digital images will never have that appeal that film has.

About a month ago I was blessed with the opportunity to finally get a digital SLR.  I window shopped for years, but could never bring myself to spend the money on it.  Finally I couldn’t take it anymore and I purchased a Nikon D3000.  I’m in love.

If you are in the market for a digital SLR take your time in choosing the one that is perfect for you.  If you have friends that have DSLR’s, ask if you can look it over and check it out.  See what sort of features they come with.  Are you a beginner photographer?  Read reviews to see how beginner friendly the camera is.nikond3000

The Nikon D3000 is very beginner friendly.  There is a Guide function on it for people just starting out, if you already know your way around the camera you probably will not need the guide too often.  It can be helpful though for some quick settings.

Like I said, take your time in choosing. I waited many years before buying.  Also, keep in mind what you will be using the camera for.  You may not need to purchase the most expensive camera to cover your needs.  If you end up wanting more, then upgrade later.  No need for overkill!
