Archive for Camping

Isn’t she adorable? This is from a shoot I did recently and I wanted to share the cuteness of this little one!

I hope you’ll miss me as much as I will miss you!  In just a few hours I am taking the girls camping with American Heritage Girls.  It’s going to kill me pain wise and it’ll probably take me a few weeks to recover, but hey…I’m a mom, we must do these things for our kids right?  Pray for me…I have no good pain meds to help me out right now.

So, I will be gone until Sunday. All of my comments are moderated on the blog due to the contests.  This is the only way I can be sure that people are entering correctly.  When I get back I will go through and approve the comments.  Don’t freak out if you don’t see your entries going through.  I promise they will be there!

If you email me, I may be able to check emails from my phone.  But I can’t promise that because I do not know how service will be out there.

PR, I’ll catch up when I get back.  Hope you all have a fantastic weekend while I am dying in the 100+ heat here in Texas!

This week is the camp out for American Heritage Girls and we are crafting like mad!  See, the girls are doing SWAPS for camp.  Do you know what SWAPS are?  There are actually 2 meanings…

  • Special Whatchamacallits Affectionately Pinned Somewhere”
  • Share With A Pal”

Had I known in advance we were doing this I would have planned more accordingly to find the proper crafting supplies.  The local stores really don’t have much to work with, so we had to make due.  Next time I will be prepared and order from a place like FactoryDirect Craft so that we have more choices with our supplies.

I would love to have purchased some miniatures to use for the swaps.

What I would like to have done for this years camping swaps was use these small wooden signs to embellish with our troop number and the date as well as the name of our camping event.

It would have been cute to even add these small lady bugs onto the signs as well.  Then all that would need to be done is add a pin back to it so the girls could attach them to their hats.  Wouldn’t that have been so cute?I know the girls would have loved them! Next time I will be prepared.  I’m going to stock up on miniatures so that I am never caught without supplies again!

Anyhow, we are almost finished with our SWAPS.  I’ll post up photos of them when we are done.  Morgan is making miniature friendship bracelets, Lauren made miniature camp autograph books and Emma used foam stickers to put the troop # and AHG on little pieces of craft foam.

Again, had I had time I would have ordered these supplies as well.  The craft foam is so much cheaper to order from Factory Direct Craft.  Ahhh…you live and you learn….

RV Living!

by Brandy

You know, right now I would gladly sell, give and store all of our possessions and move into an RV.  What an experience that would be!  The kids could see so much and we could really learn a lot while traveling.  Imagine the people we would meet!

My parents are tossing around the idea of living in an RV.  I’m trying my hardest to talk them into it!  Bringing it to Texas and staying locally.  Their RV is just like living in a home!  Well, except one thing…no TV.  No TV is ok for a few days, but they really needed to be able to see local weather and news.  Not to mention entertainment when it was downtime from playing outside. It is SO hotSo HOT.

Texas gets hot, yes I know this.  However, this is the beginning of JUNE!  That means when the hot months roll around it is going to be a summer of death in the Lone Star State.  I’m scared.

So glad we were able to go camping with my parents before it got to hot to be outside comfortably.  It was perfect weather while they were here.  The girls did a lot of S’more making and Lake swimming.  It was a blast! Read More→

A great alternative to candy and chips!  You get the sweet and salty flavor that you crave along with that satisfying crunch!  Nature Valley Granola Nut Clusters come in 4 great flavors!

  • Nut Lovers
  • Roasted Almond
  • Roasted Cashew
  • Honey Roasted Peanut

They are made from 100% natural ingredients, including select roasted nuts, whole grain oats and honey!  I feel good giving these to my children as a snack.  They think they are getting junk food, and I have the satisfaction of knowing it is a healthy snack for them!

I had the opportunity to try all 4 flavors.  All were great, but the “Nut Lovers” was my favorite!  The girls enjoyed the “Honey Roasted Peanut” flavor the best.  The J-man preferred the “Roasted Cashew“.  This will be a definite addition for our camping trips!NVGNC_Prize_PackI received everything you see pictured above!  4 flavors of Nature Valley Granola Nut Clusters, a sling backpack, stainless steel water bottle, flashlight and binoculars!
