Archive for allergies

I’ve always known that it was a great benefit to our health to consume local honey.  Preferably Raw Local Honey.  When the North Dallas Honey Company asked me to give them a try I was totally down for it.

Consuming local honey can help with your allergies because the honey contains the same pollen that causes allergy symptoms. Local bees…local pollen, local honey.  Simple.  By consuming local honey you are basically building up your immunity.  Honey is also good for a ton of other things, but this reason is why it is important to shop for Honey that is local to you.

Allergies have been really bad for a lot of people this summer.  I know here in Texas that the lack of rain has really made allergies tough.  At our house though we have done great!  I know that is partly due to consuming local honey.

“Our honey is gently warmed and strained through cheesecloth to remove the ‘bee’s knees,’ leaving the enzymes and the antioxidants of the honey,” explained Nathan Sheets, president and owner of North Dallas Honey Company. “We blend a variety of honeys from honey-producing plants, including clover, vetch, wildflower and mesquite, to make our products the best tasting available.”

It tastes delicious! We use honey as a natural sweetener.  I especially love adding it to our Raw “Ice Creams” and oatmeal!  Morgan loves Honey in her tea.  You can feel good about eating honey because it is definitely good for you! Honey from the North Dallas Honey Company is definitely a staple on our grocery list!

Be sure to head over and check out their website! Even if you are not in our area you should still check it out for the wonderful recipes using honey they have!

My middle daughter Lauren is very prone to allergies.  She often has nose bleeds at night as well.  When I heard about the bedding that can help with allergies I was very interested.

Did you know that bedding can contribute to (and increase) allergic reactions? I had no idea! Read More→

My family has a case of the snot noses and I don’t like it all that much.  First they had the fevers starting with Emma and moving on to Lauren.  Today the fevers are gone and they have a cough and the dreaded snot noses.  This has been the worst year for allergies…everything is yellow and I have not seen that since I left Georgia.

Emma tends to slime me every time I am not paying attention and it’s really gross.  Especially on a black T-shirt, which happens to be 99% of my wardrobe.  I’m glad the fevers have passed, but these snot noses have to go!

Morgan is the lucky child who rarely ever gets sick…but…she is a carrier!  She is one of those kids that can avoid every illness but is quick to pass it on to others that do not have her super immune system!

I try not to medicate unless needed, but today I had to give in and go to the drugstore because the snot was running freely and in turn giving them a good case of the coughs.  The J-man sounded as though he would die, so he too has been medicated.

As I write this, my house is quiet as my medicated family sleeps.  It’s pretty nice!
