Thursday, August 26th, 2010

Wow, I was just checking out my member account at Sam’s Club.  It’s time to get in and stock up so I wanted to see what my current eValues were.  There are 21 available to me right now.  I thought the best way for you to understand eValues is for me to show you some of mine!

As of my last membership renewal on November 6th, 2009…I have been offered $1,841.75 in eValue savings!  Out of my current eValues these are the ones I will be picking up this weekend.

You will see it also shows the date range and shows me which will be expired soon.

These are all items that we use and I can make sure I pick them up while I have the discounts to use on them.  I can also see the eValues that are coming soon so that I can plan accordingly.  I use this information to pick up those items when I can get the added discount.  You can see this below.

I hope by showing you the eValues that I have and how they help me plan my shopping, that it will show you the benefits of having a Plus membership.

With Labor Day coming up, Sam’s Club has you covered with eValues!  Click here to check it out!  There will be over $300 in extra savings loaded onto your card from September 1st-6th, 2010!

I’m All About Some Savings!

Wednesday, August 25th, 2010

That is why I shop at Sam’s Club.  I used to be a major coupon clipper and then other things took priority.  Now, don’t get me wrong…I still clip some coupons but I am not in the game they way I used to be.  It got to the point where I would show up to the store and I had forgotten my handy dandy coupon binder…yes, I said binder!  As soon as I get my  head back running correctly I will once again be a coupon binder girl!

So what does that have to do with Sam’s Club?  Well, eValues!  I told you about eValues a long time ago and I am still loving the convenience!  I can’t forget my eValues!  These are like having special coupons without clipping and without having to remember to bring them along. If you are a Sam’s Club Plus Member then eValues are there for you, whether you remember them or not!  They are loaded directly on your Membership card and redeemed electronically at the register.

With Labor Day coming up, Sam’s Club has you covered with eValues!  Click here to check it out!  There will be over $300 in extra savings loaded onto your card from September 1st-6th, 2010! It’s always nice to see those discounts popping up in surprising places.  I know one time I saved quite a bit on the family pack of ground beef I picked up at an already great price.  Sure was a nice surprise seeing even more savings coming in for my family!

Have you used eValues?

Sam’s Club Enhances Member Experience with Technology

Friday, August 13th, 2010

As part of its commitment to deliver the best possible shopping experience, Sam’s Club today announced plans to upgrade all of its U.S. locations with Wi-Fi by November. The announcement was delivered to more than 2,200 Sam’s Club associates from the field and Home Office gathered at the Orlando Convention Center for the company’s Annual Holiday Meeting, which showcases holiday merchandise and details plans for the season.

AT&T* will provide Wi-Fi to Sam’s Club, which will allow its members greater use of their Wi-Fi enabled smart phones while shopping and enable associates to demo new IPTV’s (internet TV’s) as well as other internet connected devices in real time. Members may view their favorite web application such as Facebook™, Pandora™ or Vudu™ on large screen TV’s to better understand how it would appear at home.  In addition, hundreds of product reviews will now be accessible in-club as well to help members research potential purchases and access samsclub.com. Sam’s Club is also upgrading to 1080p HDTV displays, to provide an improved and more realistic picture quality. Sam’s Club is the first warehouse club to offer live IPTV demos and carry a 1080p broadcast signal. Sam’s Club expects to showcase 3D TV’s in all locations and online next month.

“Our members are early adopters of technology and electronics, and we’re excited to deliver an improved experience in our clubs,” said Brian Cornell, president and CEO, Sam’s Club. “This investment in connectivity allows us to showcase the high quality brands we offer in a new engaging way, provide an enhanced level of service and brings to life our promise to our members of Savings Made Simple.”

Sam’s Club also announced plans to offer a comprehensive smart phone application (app) for the iPhone, BlackBerry and Anroid platforms. The app will include several features such as access to eValues, which are extra discounts loaded directly onto the Plus Membership cards, product information, member reviews and more. The Sam’s Club app will make it easier for members to make the right choices on products throughout the club as well as foster greater member interaction with Sam’s Club. The Sam’s Club app will be available in September. Additional functionality details will be communicated soon.

The use of Sam’s Club Tech Experts will be expanded as a result of the new capabilities to provide advanced training for in-club electronics associates. Sam’s Club members may use Tech Experts 24/7 for free, by calling to get pre and post sale consultations on dozens of electronics items from computers to home theater systems. Members may also get information on items regardless of where they were purchased.  In addition to providing no cost tech support, Tech Experts also can provide Sam’s Club members with delivery and installation of electronics from basic to custom plans.

“These initiatives combined with additional associate training in Electronics will have a positive impact on every product category within the department,” said Joe Hartsig, vice president, Electronics at Sam’s Club. “We’ll be able to enhance how our members experience electronics and deliver an increased level of service as technology choices become more complex.”

Health and Wellness at Sam’s Club

Monday, July 12th, 2010

It’s no secret that I do not have health insurance.  Shoot, at this point an insurance company wouldn’t touch me.  When I was told about the free Health and Wellness Checks at Sam’s Club I was on it!  First of all it was free and second of all it was like getting a mini check up.

When I arrived there was a bit of a line and I thought it would take forever.  However they had plenty of people and it went quickly.  Everyone was extremely friendly and didn’t even care that I was taking photos.  They were more than happy to be included.

The first thing I did was fill out a form with a little information.  Basically just who I was.  There was no health history, that would have taken me forever!

Next was getting my blood pressure checked.  I had just ran in to the store through a flooding parking lot and a downpour that hurt when it hit you.  Normally my blood pressure is perfect, but this time it was a little high and she said it was most likely from me running into the store.  It was only a wee bit out of the normal range so I’m not worried about it.  I’ll be checked again today at the OBGYN and I am sure it will be normal.

Next I was sent over to have my BMI checked.  I knew it would not be good considering that the tumor hindered my bodies ability to process normally.  It also had thrown my thyroid out of whack and I had tested abnormal on my thyroid before surgery.  I am happy to say that my thyroid is now testing normally and the weight is literally falling off without me doing anything differently.  My BMI was in the overweight range and I expected that.  I was thankful that it was not in the obese range!  After testing my BMI, I was given some information on a weight-loss group that meets not too far from my house.  They charge a low weekly rate and tech you about nutrition and exercise.  they also said that Morgan could attend with me for free.  Pretty cool!  I might check it out because it would be a great learning opportunity that Morgan and I can do together.

The last check was my Cholesterol and Blood Sugar.  I am hypoglycemic and have been since I was a kid.  I am prone to sugar spikes depending on what I have eaten or drank.  I then do a hard crash.  My blood sugar tested in the normal range, but my cholesterol tested a bit high.  This was shocking to me considering the way I eat.  I eat a diet of mainly fruits and vegetables….most of that being raw.  I rarely eat meats.  So I probably should check out that class I mentioned above so I can figure out where this hidden cholesterol is coming from.  It is something that is not obvious to me and it is important that I figure it out and take steps to get it out of my diet.  Amazing what one little prick to the finger can tell you!

If I would have had these tests run at the Doctor’s office I would have paid about $150!  Thanks Sam’s Club for providing this great service to your customers!

Sam’s Club provided me with a $50 gift card for my participation in the Health & Wellness screenings, to provide testimonial content via the samsclub.com/pharmacy site and post to my individual blog.

4th of July Savings with Sam’s Club!

Monday, June 28th, 2010

Moms are busy plain and simple. Whether  you work in the home or out of the home we are all busy!

Planning a great 4th of July party can be made easy by getting all of your party needs in one location.

For me, that location is Sam’s Club! Sam’s has such a great meat selection.  Everything is fresh and the prices are amazing.

Sam’s Club has some great party plans posted up for you right now on their Summer micro-site to help you get it together easily!  Click here to check it out! We chose to go along with the Kid Friendly Party and were able to preview it for you compliments of Sam’s Club!

On the site you will find menu and party ideas for these other themes as well!

  • Traditional
  • Gourmet
  • On the Go
  • Large Scale

My family loves Ribs!  I myself, eh…no ribs for me.  I was able to pick up some huge Country Style Pork Ribs for our party and I want to say the package was around $10.00.  These were not small ribs, they were HUGE!

NSAMSamsRibssm

I picked up Hot Dogs and Chicken Nuggets for the little’s.  The Chicken Nuggets are already prepared and only required a quick heating in the oven.  I also made Kraft Macaroni and Cheese and purchased Country Style Red Potato Salad.  The potato salad tasted just like homemade and I can promise you that there were no leftovers!

We also picked up pre-made hamburger patties to save me even more time.  Sam’s Club sells frozen patties that are terrific, but I opted for the fresh pre-made patties for our party.

I was amazed at the deal I got on buns!   Mrs. Baird’s buns at the grocery store are over $2.00 for 8 of them.  I picked up a package of 16 Mrs. Baird’s Hamburger Buns and a package of 16 Mrs. Baird’s Hot Dog Buns for only $1.98 each!  That is a huge savings!!!

NSAMbunssm

I picked up the individual packages of baked chips.  This way everyone was sure to find a favorite.  We also had huge bottles of ketchup and mustard.

NSAMchipsutensilsnapkinssm

The kiddos drink choices were a variety of individual Welch’s Juices.  The kids loved them so much more than the traditional drink boxes and pouches that I normally purchase for them.  I do believe these are probably a healthier option as well and came in fun summer flavors.

For desert we skipped the ice cream and instead went with Fruti all natural fruit bars.  These things are so awesome!  I had a sample last time we were shopping at Sam’s Club and I knew this is what I wanted to serve at our cookout.  They have chunks of fruit in them and are so yummy!  This will most likely be a summer staple in our freezer!

NSAMcartsm

Sam’s Club has more than just the food covered!  Our cutlery and plates were also from Sam’s Club.  When you have a huge gathering, the last thing you want to be worried about is doing dishes.  I wanted to sit back and enjoy this time with my friends and family and that is just what i did!

Entertainment was covered with Nerf toys and Super Soaker water guns!  We had so much fun!  The Super Soakers are highly recommended by my family as way to have fun and stay cool this summer.

SummerFunwmsm

So don’t spend your day running from store to store to prepare for your 4th of July party this year!  Just head to Sam’s Club and pick it all up in one place.  From food, decor, supplies and fun…they have you covered!  Thanks Sam’s Club for letting this mama relax!

Sam’s Club provided me with a full 4th of July party pack of items and a gift card for my participation in this campaign.

My Favorite Summer Recipe and Great Savings at Sam’s Club!

Thursday, June 3rd, 2010

I am so happy to see all the pretty produce!  Fruits and vegetables all bright and pretty in their natural state!  I’m a huge fan of eating raw and in an effort to get myself healthier I am once again returning to a predominately raw dietNo, I don’t eat raw meat!

Sam’s Club has some awesome fruits and vegetables at great prices!  I love, love, love me some Avocados!  Especially the big fat ones!  Sadly, they are usually so expensive! Not at Sam’s Club though!  I bought a bag of 5 giant Calavo Hass Avocados for only $2.79! That is such a deal!  Avocados happen to be a staple in my raw diet.  They also are in the recipe I am going to share with you today.

Avocadowm

I also picked up these beautiful bright red Tomatoes on the vine!  There is just something awesome about having them still on the vine.  They seem more fresh and vibrant!  I totally miss my garden, but this is the next best thing!

tomatowm

The fruit, oh gosh the fruit!  Beautiful colorful fruit!  I wanted to get some of everything!  Sam’s Club seriously had the best looking fruit around!  Everything looked so great and delicious!

Fruitwm

We also picked up some yummy cherries!  The price was a fraction of what they were selling them for at the grocery store and the quantity was twice as much!  I was able to share them with my friend Jenny!  She loves fresh cherries and suggested I get this kind.  I had never tried the ones that are this color and they are now one of my favorite fruits!

cherrieswm

Shoot, posting these photos is making me crave some fruit right now!  There are very few cherries left!  We also bought MONSTER Strawberries!  We loaded up on fruits and veggies!  I didn’t get photos of everything, please cut this girl some slack…I know I know…I can only use the “I just had major abdominal” excuse for so long….

So my favorite summer recipe….mmmm mmmmm mmmmm

RAW KALE SALAD

rawkalesaladwmsm

A lot of you are probably thinking Kale?  Raw Kale?  Yes Kale!  RAW Kale!  This is an awesome salad, even if you are not going raw!  You got to try it!  Kale is very good for you, especially in its raw natural state.  When you cook foods, you are losing a lot!

Kale is low in Saturated Fat, and very low in Cholesterol. It is also a good source of Dietary Fiber, Protein, Thiamin, Riboflavin, Folate, Iron, Magnesium and Phosphorus, and a very good source of Vitamin A, Vitamin C, Vitamin K, Vitamin B6, Calcium, Potassium, Copper and Manganese.

What you need…

  • 1 bunch fresh Kale. You can use dinosaur or red Russian kale, any Kale is fine. Wash it, remove the stems and tear it into bite sized pieces.
  • Green Onions washed and sliced.
  • 1 Green Pepper, cleaned and cut into small pieces.
  • 2 large avocados cut into chunks.
  • 1 Tomato, washed and diced.
  • 1 Clove of garlic, minced (raw garlic is strong and has a bit of a kick. I like it a lot so I add a lot).
  • 3/4 cup olive.
  • 1/2 cup lemon juice (fresh is best, but bottled is fine too).
  • 1 tsp. Celtic sea salt.
  • Crushed Red Pepper (I like a lot!)

Put your torn Kale in a bowl and pour the olive oil, lemon juice and sea salt over the kale leaves.   Next is my favorite part…massage the kale with your hands. Squeeze it and run it.  This will work the “dressing” into the leaves and make it nice and tender.  It will also make your hands soft! Continue to do this until it begins to have that cooked feeling to it.   Nice and tender.

Next add the remaining ingredients and toss to mix them in.  Then EAT IT!  This gets even better after it sits for a few days.  Please let me know if you try it and what you thought.  It is one of my favorite raw meals.

You can find some great summer recipes on the Sam’s Club site as they kick off Summer!  I seen some awesome drink recipes that I have got to try!  I’m especially interested in the Barefoot in Bali!

mmmmm….

  • 1/4 cup mashed bananas
  • 1 ounce Kahlua
  • 2 ounces coconut cream (like Coco Lopez)
  • 2 ounces light rum
  • 1/2 cup diced papaya or strawberries
  • 1-ounce crème de banana
  • 1-cup ice
  • Garnish: Fresh strawberry

“Mix mashed bananas, Kahlua, coconut cream, rum, papaya or strawberries, crème de banana and ice in a blender until smooth. Pour into a glass. Garnish.”

Sounds awesome!  I’ll have to try it out after I am off of the pain meds.

Sam’s Club provided me with a $40 gift card for my participation in this campaign.  All opinions are my own.
