If a Nerf gun battle sounds like the perfect activity for you and your crew, you’ve come to the right place. If you don’t live in a big city where likeminded people regularly host wars, you may have to organize your own event. Luckily, this is not too difficult once you know what to do. If you already have the best Nerf guns and you’re ready to take on the enemy, here’s how to pull everything together for a toy gun battle.
Choose a Great Location
Before you get ahead of yourself and start sending out invitations for your toy gun battle, you need to choose the right location. It needs to have covered so players can hide from oncoming bullets but it also needs to be as empty of crowds as possible. In addition, you need access to restroom facilities, food, and water. Choosing a spot with kids and their parents is not a good idea and if there are no amenities nearby, everyone is likely to get grumpy. The area surrounding a school or a park which isn’t very popular may prove to be an excellent location. You’ll need to do some exploring to find the spot which best meets your needs. If possible, have a backup location nearby.
Find out the Date and Time Which Works for Everyone
When the group is relatively small and you know everyone well, deciding on a date and time isn’t difficult. However, for a large group, you may want to get some suggestions from those closest to you and then ask everyone else to vote for their preferred date. If it’s your first attempt to organize a Nerf battle, choose a time which will allow for a four-hour war. If it goes well, you can add a couple more hours next time. If you’ve done this before and you’re sure you’ll get a huge turnout, plan for six hours.
When you’re hosting such a large event, you need to make sure there’s enough food and drinks for everyone. A tasty meal will keep both players’ spirits and their energy up. Decide whether you want to ask them to bring their own lunch or do a potluck arrangement. You can also plan to have food delivered or walk to a nearby restaurant.
Decide on the Rules
West Coast and East Coast rules are the most popular but you can come up with whatever guidelines you want for your toy gun battle. The most important thing is to decide well ahead of the game and make sure everyone is aware and they understand. Try not to make things so complicated that players get confused or forget what the rules are. Regardless of the points system you decide on, make it mandatory that all players wear eye protection.
After all the planning, it’s time to enjoy the battle. While you still have to be in charge during the game, remember to keep the mood light. Some things won’t go according to plan but you need to adapt and move on. Get things right and the group will ask you to organize many more battles in the future.
