How to Get Rid of All the Pests
Have you ever noticed the linguistic connection between the words pest and pestilence? While they are not the same thing, an outbreak of pests in the home can certainly feel like an epidemic of disease. Many symptoms are shared between the two:
- It starts with one, then multiplies to many
- There is often a breakout of boils and sores
- Your home no longer feels like a safe place
- It seems like the misery will never end
- It requires an act of chemical warfare to end it
It is also worth noting that there is more than one kind of pest that routinely invades homes. There are at least three other types of pests worth mention besides the ones with more than two legs.
For a home to feel safe, it has to be free of all intruders. It is impossible for one to truly rest when she has to maintain a high state of alert. Here are four pests that have to be dealt with, and how to go about it:
Call them flies, mosquitoes, roaches, spiders, or fleas. One way or the other, they are all bugs. And they are all unwelcome invaders in your home.
They say that everything is bigger in Texas. Whether that is actually true of the bugs themselves is debatable, but it can certainly be said about the rate at which their bugs multiply and spread. Whether due to the warm weather or other environmental factors conducive to bug life, pest control in Dallas and other major cities of the Lone Star State is as much a big-time business as it is a bug-killing business.
As the expert exterminators of Texas can attest, once you have a full-blown insect infestation, you cannot get rid of it on your own. It is going to take more than a can of Raid and a rolled up newspaper. Some bugs are specific to the region. Others are particularly fond of wood. While still others prefer the carpet, or that all-time favorite, hair of the dog.
If you have pets, you need a professional that can end the pests without harming the pets, and everyone else occupying the house. So at the first sign of infestation, call a professional.
Something in the Air
Pollen, mold spores, dust mites, cat hair, and all the other things that send your allergies into overdrive are all a special variety of pest. And like the creepy crawlies, you have to get rid of them if everyone in the home is to breathe easy.
About that cat hair, it is not really the hair that is the problem. It is the saliva and the urine that sticks to the hair. Litter boxes are gross. And cats lick themselves all over, all the time. That sticks to the hair, and the hair becomes airborne.
With a bit of care, you won’t have to get rid of the cat. You don’t even have to move from that pristine location in the country surrounded by all that beauty. Between allergy medication and one of the newer air purifiers, most of those issues go away or at least stop being problems.
No one feels completely safe in a high crime area. But even if you live in a great neighborhood, being the victim of a robbery even once can rob you of that feeling of security forever.
This type of pest can never fully be eliminated. But with the right alarm system and security monitors, they can be discouraged from trying your home. Burglars want easy targets that are also safe for them.
If they sense that your home is protected, they are likely to move on to one that is less so. Alarm system signage has likely stopped more crimes than the alarm systems themselves.
The fourth type of pest that invades your home enters via the computer. And what they are infecting is your data. That data represents your finances, your good credit, and your identity.
If you are running a Windows PC or Android mobile, you have to use antivirus software. The threats are targeting those systems. Even if you use a Mac and iPhone, there are still best practices that without which, you will find your data just as compromised.
Pests come in many forms and varieties. However they come, you need to get rid of them. Call a pro for the bugs. Use a purifier for airborne threats. A good alarm system is usually enough for the human threats. And antivirus and best practices will keep those digital pests at bay.
