Instructions to Make a Simple Bird Feeder

Make a Simple Bird Feeder
Emma and I decided we wanted to use alternating strips of flower washi tape.  After cutting strips to the correct length, she applied the first one using the lip line of the can to guide her.

After you have your first strip on, move on to the next.  Slightly overlap and make sure that you keep all of the seams (where one end of the tape meets the other) on one side.

Repeat this step until you have reached the bottom of the can.

Pretty right?

Next, we used two strands of complimentary embroidery floss.  Tie them together as shown below then cut to a length that will allow you to tie around the cans and also, long enough to hang your bird feeder from a tree.  Once you have cut the floss to length, tie the opposite two ends together as well to make one long multi-colored strand as shown below.

Repeat on the other end of the can as shown in the photo below.

Embellish your bird feeder however you please.  We used tulle to make a bow.  Other ideas would be to glue on buttons or trim.  Now you are ready to hang it in a tree.  You’ll want to hang it where the front angles up slightly, not much, but a little.

Once you have found a beautiful place to hang your bird feeder you can fill it with your bird seed.
