Growing up I spent a lot of time going to church. Easter wasn’t just about finding eggs and getting goodies from the Easter Bunny. It was much more than that. Of course we still did those things, but we knew the real meaning behind Easter and I feel the message has been forgotten by many. My little ones are old enough to understand these messages. #rethinkchurch
So, What is the meaning of Easter?
Easter is the day when we celebrate Jesus Christ rising from the dead after being crucified and dying for our sins. The day we celebrate as Easter Sunday represents the 3rd day after he died, the day he was resurrected. His resurrection symbolizes eternal life, something that is granted to all who believe in Him.
For a very long time, Easter has been a time of coming together in celebration of the resurrection of Jesus. Celebrating with our families with a feast and fellowship. For some, it is a time to open up to others and provide community service and show love. No matter your tradition, it is about love. I was raised in a Christian Apostolic Pentecostal church. I know sometimes people let the denominations in Christianity divide them, I have never understood that. So I set this aside and recognize we are all Christian and how we choose to believe and celebrate is up to us.
Kin Community has put together deserts to share! I mean, we are celebrating and a celebration needs deserts! Celebrating the resurrection and celebrating our family and lives. They are an expression of love for those you care about. Preparing together is a great time to connect as well. It is also a great way to share with someone that needs a pick me up. Even if you are having a hard time, there is always something to be joyful about. So, for now…look around you and see all the good and choose to do good things. Don’t focus on the negative! Many of you know the hardships my family has been facing. We still choose to be thankful, we still choose to do good things for others. Choose Love, Hope and Joy.
Don’t get pulled under by the superficial aspects of holidays, but celebrate the true meaning of the Easter holiday: celebrating friends, family and God. Learn more by visiting the United Methodist Church website.
This has been a #spon post. All words and feelings are my own and truthful.
