July went by and I was thinking, wow…what a mild July. Then it hit…the heat! The smothering Texas summer! It has arrived!
So I wanted to discus some ways to still get your kids outdoors while not keeling over from the heat.
BEAT THE HEAT!
Just Add Water!
Here in our area we are on a water restriction. We are allowed to water the lawns on Tuesday and Thursday evenings. We make double use of this by having the girls suit up and play in the sprinkler as we water the grass! They love Sprinkler time more than anything. Then since it is early evening, they can head right in to take a bath and prepare for bed.
Another water idea? Head to your local beach or swimming hole! We are so lucky to live at the lake and can go pretty much whenever we want! We even take the dogs, they deserve some water fun too!
Don’t forget the squirt guns!
Other ideas: ill cheap spray bottles with cool water to mist as needed. Damp clothes stored in the fridge are another way to keep cool outdoors. Let them wash the car! Find shade, if you don’t have it…make it! Make a tent out of sheets on the clothes line. There are all sorts of ways to still take playtime outside. Just plan and be smart. Always drink a lot of water and a have a great selection of Popsicle products on hand! Remember to save those Popsicle sticks! We have a project to do next month! Follow my Popsicle Stick Crafts board on Pinterest for some great crafts to make with your sticks!
So tell me, how are you beating the heat this summer?
