  1. When I was a baby, I had colic. I’d scream and scream and scream and my mother absolutely hated me. Think I’m lying? Think again! She actually told my dad that I hated her, and she hated me. The feeling was mutual. I call it PPD, they called it colic!

We finally got over that hatred, and the way she soothed me and we fell in love with each other was by her laying me across her lap on my belly, and singing to me. She said it worked like a charm.

When my daughter was born, although I did not hate her, nor did I think she hated me, she always had an upset belly. I tried what my mom used on me… skeptical, however, it really worked for her.

Was it the compression on the belly or the fact that she was totally soothed my my singing voice, I don’t know.

I just know it worked, and we were all happier because of it!

Trust your gut!! Trust your gut if you think something is wrong don’t be scared to ask someone, call the Dr, ask your mom, ask a friend. If your gut is just saying take a nap, or to get help then call a friend and ask!

My middle daughter had terrible colic as a baby. I was a military single mom at the time (hubby was deployed) and I was beside myself. I was breast feeding and just didn’t know what was causing it until someone asked me if I liked to drink milk, which I did. So I cut out milk and as many dairy products as I could and thankfully within a week or so her colic improved.

My oldest and my youngest never fussed much, but my middle son…. Well, let’s just say he made me a better mom. The only way he would stop crying long enough to let me sleep was if I was reclined and slept with him on my chest and hummed every time he started getting antsy again. My sling and my LayZBoy became my only hold to sanity. When I absolutely had to put him down, our baby swing was a fair substitute for a little while at a time but only if I had music on and managed to keep the background noises to a bare minimum. More than once I cried right along with the baby when my phone rang or the front door was opened.
