Update on Me…

I have a rhuematologist appointment on Friday…I think so anyhow.  I get really forgetful, I have it written down somewhere though…just have to remember where.

I’m currently taking Neurontin, which is an anti-seizure medication.  this is being increased gradually.  The idea behind this is that eventually it kind of turns off the pain singles to my brain.  I am also taking Robaxin, which is a muscle relaxer.  They put me on this when it became difficult for me to walk.  It seems to be helping a little bit, but not that much.  I taken Melatonin to help me sleep better.  For months I was living off 1-2 hours of sleep tops.  This increases the pain and neuro issues a lot!  I have to have sleep and the Melatonin does help.

I am not on pain pills.  This is something I am trying very hard not to have to fall in to.  I suck it up.  Last thing I need is to become some kind of pain pill junkie and end up in a Drug abuse rehab…I know how easily that can happen to people.  Thank god there are places to help those people out, I’ve personally had family that had to use these services.  I do have a prescription of Tramadol and I only take it when I am in so much pain that it makes me unable to function.

As for my surgery, I am recovering well.  I still have pain from where nerve endings are waking up.  My periods seem to be leveling out as well.  I was having one every 2 weeks on the dot…talk about hell.  I can run and jump and it gets a little sore, but I am getting there!

I am SOO GLAD to hear that you seem to be making some progress, even if it is baby steps. Keep me posted, and hug those girls for me!

Ditto to Niki’s comments. Let me know if I can do anything to help.

I use melatonin too- every weekend when Sei works. It’s the only thing that relaxes me enough and turns my brain off. :)

I’m glad you’ve found something that helps you get some sleep. Can’t imagine trying to function and deal with everything without enough sleep. I admire your determination to avoid pain meds whenever possible. I don’t think I’d be so stoic! Continuing to send good wishes your way.

  4. Hopefully you can get an actual diagnosis soon and not more “you need more tests” bullshit.

Glad the melatonin helps. It knocked me out for days with one pill. OY.

I hear you about not wanting to take Narcotic Pain Pills and get addicted. A person can develop an addiction to narcotics in as little as 96 hours if they are taken as prescribed. That’s why many prescriptions for narcotics are only for a 3 day supply.
I took Robaxin a long time ago and it never did any good for my back or esophageal spasms at all.
I hope that your appointment Friday does you some good and helps to find you better relief.
    Chronic pain sucks.
