Ok, this may not be the correct way for doing this, but I teach myself everything.  I take the easy route.  If something is too difficult, it just ain’t worth doing.  Yea I said ain’t…what of it?

So anyhow, I was having a blast using textures in PhotoShop.  But, I wanted specific looking textures.  So I made some!  Texture is everywhere around you!  Use it!

Take your camera and photograph some interesting textures.  You can then pull those images into a photo editing program and tweak it and make it what you want it to be.

Yesterday, as I was editing a photo…I just couldn’t find what I wanted for it.  Gabriel is a white horse and I wanted softness and blue tones that looked a bit age.  Here is the original photo of Gabriel.

Everything about this photo was too harsh. So first I softened the actual photo with a Nelly Nero Action.  Then I went out looking for a texture that would be what I wanted.  I found it in my garage!  A piece of plywood!

This was great, but I wanted something that would look good with the vintage look I wanted as well as Gabriels White and Gray coat.  So I applied a handy dandy PSP photo filter and got this…

This was exactly what I wanted!  The nice cooling tones of the blue would even out that harshness. Here is the photo softened up with this texture applied.

So simple!  It is exactly the look I wanted and I only had to go into my garage to find it!  If you make any of your own please let me know!

This one is available for download and use on my Flickr stream! Click here to view it, then click all sizes and download the original size.  Have fun!
