We used to have a special relationship. I used to visit you daily, but it was a habit that was hurting my financial well being. So I took some time in between my visits. At first it was good, it made me enjoy you that much more. It was more special. Lately though, you’ve changed. It breaks my heart when I am so excited to see you and you let me down!
For years we have had such a good relationship. Your employees were always so positive and upbeat, they put me in a good mood. Now, you have people that just don’t care about you like they used too. They give me drinks that are not up to your standards and I am very disappointed.
This was something I looked forward to and now it is like playing Russian Roulette. Will it be a happy yummy moment, or will I scream and holler in my car about how I just wasted $5 on something that tastes like crap.
Seriously…what happened to you? I don’t want to leave you, but you are pushing me away. Is this how you want it to end?
Awesome photo by me, awesome photo effects by BeFunky!

It is because the young people of today just don’t care.

There are a couple people that still make them right, but man…remember when you used to go to starbucks and everyone looked so happy to be there??? Now it’s like totally different.
Same thing here! I try mine before I walk/drive away. If it tastes like ass, I’m askin’ for a new one.
My drinks use to always be good or perfect. Now they are bad, slightly good and sometimes perfect.
The last two times I had one, it sucked! I have no desire to try it again. My money is too precious and like you said, it used to be a wonderful treat that you looked forward too! Most of my friends have switched to McD’s and said they are good. No soy there though
I’ve learned to go when I know certain ppl are working. They are usually happy and get it right! But you are right…it’s like russian roulette.

I hear you. I used to be able to depend on a slightly burnt flavor. Lately it tastes like the cup. I think they found a different cup manufacturer and the taste seeps into the coffee. That’s my theory.

I totally agree. I had a similar love story to yours with them. As a mom, you look forward to that time, to a nice cup of joe, to people being nice and happy and positive…it’s worth the $4 cup of coffee. My son and I would go for mini dates – he’d get organic milk in a box and I’d get my latte. Pure bliss.
It’s a bummer man. Come back Starbucks!

You are so right! I never go out of my way for a latte the way I used to!

You KNOW that I’m retired from Starbucks and I HATE hearing that. But, I must say that I’ve noticed a decline in some of the stores as well (especially since not ALL of the stores are Starbucks trained – like those inside of other businesses, kiosks, etc).
Here’s the number to call to complain –
Retail Customer Relations
(800) 235-2883
Mon – Fri 5 AM – 6 PM (PST)
At the very LEAST they should give you some service recovery coupons (free drinks).

Yes I can say that I did have a really bad tasting drink too at starbucks the last time I went.. its sad.. I love starbucks
I usually just drink coffee so I don’t have a problem but my wife gets latte’s and complains how the Starbucks near us sucks because they don’t put the care a $5 drink deserves. Sorry you are getting treated like this.

I’m sorry they’ve declined in service like so many other businesses have recently it seems. I wonder if it’s a cost saving measure? Maybe they aren’t training the employees like they used to, or maybe they cut hours and/or benefits? Even a new manager can make a difference. The Chili’s near us was FANTASTIC. We used to go weekly for kids’ night. Then they got a new GM about 6 mos ago, and it’s exponentially sucked ass since.

I’m happy at Caribou Coffee (Gotta get my lite white berry), mostly because they are in more easily accessible locations for me and because lately I haven’t been all that impressed with Starbucks either. Sometimes we do McD’s as well. I especially like their iced van. coffee and I love being able to use the drive through with the kids.
