Choosing a Digital SLR

I’ve been addicted to photography since highschool.  Not too long after graduating my mom and dad bought me a Minolta Maxxum 400SI 35 mm.  I love that camera so much.  I have never once had an issue with it and it shoots as great today as it did back then in the early 90′s when it was brand new.  It made me money and I like money.  Then along came Digital SLR’s and I was kicked out of the game.  People wanted instant gratification and I can’t say I blamed them.  Although in my opinion, digital images will never have that appeal that film has.

About a month ago I was blessed with the opportunity to finally get a digital SLR.  I window shopped for years, but could never bring myself to spend the money on it.  Finally I couldn’t take it anymore and I purchased a Nikon D3000.  I’m in love.

If you are in the market for a digital SLR take your time in choosing the one that is perfect for you.  If you have friends that have DSLR’s, ask if you can look it over and check it out.  See what sort of features they come with.  Are you a beginner photographer?  Read reviews to see how beginner friendly the camera is.nikond3000

The Nikon D3000 is very beginner friendly.  There is a Guide function on it for people just starting out, if you already know your way around the camera you probably will not need the guide too often.  It can be helpful though for some quick settings.

Like I said, take your time in choosing. I waited many years before buying.  Also, keep in mind what you will be using the camera for.  You may not need to purchase the most expensive camera to cover your needs.  If you end up wanting more, then upgrade later.  No need for overkill!

I have been shopping for a year and it is all so confusing. I still love my Rebel 2000, I agree that film is better.

Like I said to Karen above, this camera would be great for a pro or a beginner. The guide feature would be very helpful in teaching someone as they go. Pretty flippin’ sweet!
